Hatozaki 12 y.o. - Umeshu

Since its foundation in 1917, the Kaikyo distillery has dedicated itself to whisky production and has developed a profound expertise that is reflected in the quality of its products. Master distiller Kimio Yonezawa has been inspired by the Scottish tradition, but has established his own recognizable style.

Hatozaki 12 Years Small Batch is a Japanese single malt whisky that owes its name to the historic Hatozaki lighthouse. This lighthouse, located near the Kaikyo distillery, has served as a navigational aid for sailors for four centuries and is symbolic of the combination of tradition and openness that also characterizes Hatozaki whisky.

The production process involves meticulous steps, from the construction of modern stills to twelve years of ageing in American oak barrels and the final maturation in barrels that previously contained umeshu, a Japanese plum liqueur, for a further six months. Hatozaki 12 Years Small Batch is an unpeated single malt whisky that is characterized by a harmonious taste profile and fine floral notes, complemented by deep barley aromas.
