Ballechin 2010/2026 - 15 y.o. - Heavily Peated - 1st Fill Bourbon Barrels

Distilled in September 2010 at the historic Edradour distillery, this Ballechin represents the smoky side of the Highlands' "Little Gem." The renowned independent bottler Signatory Vintage selected three specific first-fill bourbon barrels for this edition of their "Un-chillfiltered Collection," in which the single malt matured until March 2026. By consistently foregoing chill filtration and added coloring, the viscous texture and natural amber hue are preserved, underscoring the original, artisanal character of this limited selection.

On the nose, a powerful, earthy peat smoke unfolds immediately, elegantly complemented by the sweetness of ripe fruit and creamy honey. The palate reveals the full complexity of its 15 years of aging: a pronounced vanilla note melds with white pepper and intense smoke, while hints of dark chocolate in the background add a bittersweet depth. Thanks to its 46% ABV, the mouthfeel is rich and oily, effectively conveying the aromatic density of the malted barley.
