Germany's Stork Club got its hands on some whisky casks from Islay's Laphroaig and matured some of its own rye whiskey in them creating... Stork Club Smoky Rye! Alongside first-fill American oak casks and German Napoleon oak casks, the Laphroaig casks have imparted a distinctly peaty hint to this expression, which works well with the familiar spiciness of the rye. Reckon this'll make for some really intriguing cocktails!
A significant portion of our Smoky Rye Whiskey was matured in casks that previously held peaty, smoky Islay whiskies. Years of maturing our whiskey in these casks impart this wonderful and distinctive flavor to our distillate. For added complexity and a lovely honeyed sweetness, we also use individually toasted American and German oak casks for maturation.
Raw material: 100% German rye
Tasting Notes
Nose Toasted bread with a layer of Nutella, campfire embers, and orange oil.
Palate Meaty smoke and brown sugar, with a few hints of cassia and black pepper.
Finish Lingering BBQ char.
