La Réunion, an enchanting island in the Indian Ocean, is known worldwide for its expertise in the production of both traditional molasses and agricole rums. The renowned Rivière du Mat distillery combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology and uses two distillation methods: single distillation for aromatic rums and triple distillation for lighter varieties.
For maturation, mainly French oak barrels are used, which previously housed first-class cognac, giving the rum its exceptional depth and complexity. This particular bottling has been aged for 10 years in a combination of oak and ex-cognac barrels, giving it a unique aroma and harmonious balance.
