The origins of the company date back to 1875, when Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa, an Italian from Genoa, traveled to Nicaragua and found the ideal location for his distillery at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano.

Flor de Caña is allowed to use the "SLOW AGED" designation with the approval of strict U.S. government authorities. This designation describes the natural, non-accelerated aging process of the rum in oak barrels and is a sign of the highest quality.
