The Highland Park distillery was founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson and is located in Kirkwall on the Orkney island of Mainland Scotland. The distillery is now owned by the Edrington Group, a company in the spirits industry.
As the most northerly whisky distillery in Scotland, Highland Park Distillery is renowned for its unique location and high quality whiskies. The distillery buildings are listed on the Scottish Heritage List, which underlines their historical significance.
Each year, the Highland Park distillery produces around 2.5 million liters of whisky. It uses a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern distilling technology to produce its whiskies.
The Highland Park Cask Strength Release No. 4 whisky has been matured mainly in first-fill European oak sherry casks and first-fill American oak sherry casks. A small proportion of this whisky also spent time in ex-bourbon casks and ex-port wine casks.
The result is an extremely complex whisky with a distinct character, bottled at its natural cask strength.
