The Glenglassaugh Distillery, a prestigious Scotch whisky distillery, is picturesquely situated near Portsoy in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Its location along the coastline of the Moray Firth not only offers breathtaking views of the North Sea, but also shapes the unique character of its whisky. The distillery's history stretches back to its foundation in 1875 and since then Glenglassaugh has developed a rich tradition of craftsmanship and distilling high-quality single malt whiskies that are appreciated by connoisseurs all over the world.
The Gaelic word "torfa" means "peat", and the Glenglassaugh malt lives up to these expectations. It is the first peated malt from Glenglassaugh since it reopened in 2008. In the 100 years before that, the distillery was more often closed than in operation, and although there may have been peated whiskies back then, there are no exact records of this.
