With a new release of small batches, the Glasgow Distillery is celebrating a triple premiere: The trio of whiskies, available in limited quantities, each matured for one year and ten months in different types of wine casks, all of which were used for the first time at the Lowland distillery.
For the Glasgow 1770 – 2020/2025 – Syrah Wine Cask, red wine casks from the Greek island of Euboea were used.
Eighty percent of the vineyards in this island paradise are planted with white grapes. The red Syrah grapes of this region are therefore highly regarded, and their prized characteristics, such as notes of blackberry, strawberry jam, black cherry, dark chocolate, and pink peppercorns, are reflected in the whisky.
