The Octomore EDITION: 16.3 Super Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt 61.6% Vol. 0.7 l in tin box is the most uncompromising bottling in the 16 series from the legendary Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay. Since its launch, Octomore has been synonymous with extremes, intensity and innovation. With a huge phenol content of 189.5 ppm, it is the most heavily peated whisky of the triumvirate and delights lovers of smoky Islay malts worldwide.
With an alcohol content of 61.6% vol., it is also the strongest edition in this series. It was matured for five years in an unusual combination of ex-bourbon casks, fine Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and other sherry casks, which add further complexity. This variety of barrels creates a unique interplay of massive peat notes, sweet fruit nuances, spicy wood influences and an elegant balance that makes this whisky a real collector's item. It is bottled in natural color, unfiltered and presented in an elegant tin box, which further emphasizes its exclusivity.
Tasting notes: Color: Light gold with copper reflections.
Nose: Intense peat smoke, maritime notes, tar, plus vanilla, dried fruit and sherry sweetness.
Taste: Extremely powerful, with dominant smoke, dark chocolate, oak, sweet spices and a fine citrus freshness.
Finish: Exceptionally long, smoky, spicy and deep, with lingering sherry and wood notes.
