With Ardbeg 15 Years Old The Beithir's Tale, the Islay distillery continues its fabled Anthology Collection – a limited-edition series of single malts inspired by mythical creatures of Islay. Each bottling represents a unique cask selection and a particularly distinctive maturation. Following "The Unicorn's Tale" and "The Harpy's Tale," "The Beithir's Tale" tells the next story from Ardbeg's world of legend – named after the legendary Beithir, a giant, serpent-like sea monster rooted deep in the mists of Islay. This 15-year-old Ardbeg was matured in a combination of American white oak and secret, rare casks – a cask selection that not only adds depth but also contributes to the mystique of this limited-edition bottling. With no added color, no chill-filter, and bottled at 46% ABV, this whisky reflects the essence of Beithir: powerful, complex, and untamed.
Nose: Spicy, oily, and piquant. Lush notes of malt molasses meet tarry wooden railway sleepers and smoked herbs. Grilled apples and raisins reveal sweet notes. With a splash of water, the scent of eucalyptus and menthol unfolds, followed by fennel and pine.
Palate: Incredibly balanced, sparkling on the palate, followed by peat smoke, coffee grounds, and currants. Notes of lemon balm mingle with smoked mandarin oranges, followed by a sharp, smoky spice.
Finish: Long and complex, with subtle notes of vanilla and smoked butter.
