The Miyagikyo distillery was conceived by Nikka founder Taketsuru as a deliberate contrast to the more rugged Yoichi distillery. Here, the focus is consistently on indirect steam distillation at low temperatures—a process that yields a spirit with a remarkably clean, fruit-forward character. After a decade of maturation in the valley’s pure, humid air, this single malt displays a radiant golden hue that reflects the serenity of its wooded origins. The design of the bottle and its beige packaging—featuring distinctive Japanese characters—underscores the timeless aesthetic of this classic whisky.
