Loch Lomond Distillery was first established in 1814 on the northern shore of Loch Lomond near Tarbet. However, the current site was created in 1965 by the former owners of the Littlemill distillery, which is located a few miles from Glasgow.

Since 2014, the distillery has been under the management of Master Blender Michael Henry, whose passion for distilling and brewing whisky is deeply rooted in his experience working around distilleries. The Loch Lomond 12 Years Old Madeira Cask Whisky was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2024, spending the majority of its maturation in refill bourbon casks before receiving a 6 to 12 month finish in first-fill Madeira casks. This final refinement gave it additional complexity and depth. It is an unpeated whisky that has been produced without peat smoke.
