Descripción
The Ben Nevis Distillery is located at the foot of the mountain of the same name near Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. The distillery buildings stand out in white and gray against the green slopes of Ben Nevis. At 1,345 meters it is the highest mountain in Great Britain.
Around 300 days a year the summit of the massif is covered in fog and clouds. Rain and snowmelt feed fresh mountain spring water – one of the central ingredients for the expressive Ben Nevis whisky since the distillery was founded in 1825. Despite its long existence: Ben Nevis own bottling only come onto the market sporadically, few of them on the European ones.
Gourmets, for example, will find what they are looking for at our long-standing partner Signatory Vintage. The independent bottler makes one of the oldest Ben Nevis single malts ever bottled accessible. The Ben Nevis 1966/2021 from the Cask Strength Collection matured for a remarkable 55 years. Signatory founder Andrew Symington selected three hogsheads from his stock of over 10,000 casks for ageing.
Crisp fermented and comparatively briefly distilled in the spirit still, Ben Nevis produces a heavy raw brandy. The intense, balanced character typical of the distillery with strongly spicy, often «dirty» and lemony-fruity notes, the rarity unfolds at a still 45.3% cask strength .
Only 99 decanters were filled with the whisky treasure and packed in a high-quality wooden case.
