Unofficially, the Ardbeg distillery has been distilling since 1794 – in 1815, the distillery was bought by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.

«Ardbeg» comes from the Gaelic and translates as «little hill».

The distillery is located on the south coast of the Islay whisky region.

This Ardbeg matures for 21 years. It is a unique Uigeadail. The maturation took place in Oloroso sherry casks, which previously contained Glenmorangie Original and then Glenmorangie Lasanta. Three years later, the Ardbeg Uigedail was launched on the market. The 1565 cask was so impressive that it was set aside for an exceptionally long maturation and then bottled for this single cask whisky.
