The Kavalan Distillery, which was founded in 2005 by T.T. Lee, the president of the King Car Group, marked Taiwan's significant entry into whisky production. As the location was chosen in the Yilan region, south-east of the capital Taipei, the excellent water quality, which comes from the cold springs of Snow Mountain and is ideal for the production of whisky, was a decisive factor.
A particularly outstanding product of the distillery is the Solist range, which consists of casks specially selected by the master blenders. These casks, which are known for their unique character and exceptional quality, give each drop in the series an individual touch.
Using premium quality peated malt, Kavalan has created one of its extremely rare peated malt whiskies exclusively for Austria. As the Kavalan Peated Single Malt Whisky uses only the best "cuts", this allows it to fully preserve the characteristic subtropical aromas as well as the velvety texture of the distillery. A whisky that is unique in that it combines the elegance of fruity notes, nuttiness and smoke with an exquisite subtlety, making it a special treat for connoisseurs.
