The Balvenie Distillery, which has been producing high-quality whisky since 1892, still preserves many traditional methods in its production process. For example, the barley is still grown on site and the distillery uses a traditional malting floor - a rarity in the modern whisky industry. In addition, Balvenie employs its own team of coopers who are responsible for maintaining and repairing the casks to ensure optimum quality throughout the maturation process.
The 16-year-old Balvenie French Oak is refined into a unique whisky by using two different types of cask. After full maturation in the first cask, the whisky is given its characteristic cask-finish flavor by finishing in the second cask. For the first time, casks from French vineyards are used, which gives this whisky a special note. Only Pineau des Charentes casks are used for the finish, which are a real rarity in the whisky industry.
This special cask combination, which combines both tradition and innovation, clearly sets Balvenie 16 Year Old French Oak apart from other bottlings. (automated translation)
