Unofficially, whisky has been distilled at the Ardbeg Distillery since 1794 – in 1815, the distillery was purchased by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.

‘Ardbeg’ comes from the Gaelic and translates roughly as ‘little hill’.

The distillery is situated on the south coast of the Islay whisky region.

Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling, presents this new permanent release from Ardbeg; a limited edition that is released anew each year.

Like its predecessors, Ardbeg TRAIGH BHAN 19 Years Old Batch No. 6 is matured in a careful selection of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, which lend it its exceptionally complex flavours. With an alcohol content of 46.2 per cent by volume, this outstanding whisky is bottled without any colouring or chill filtration.
